Hi, I’m John – a professional barber & hairstylist based in Shallow Lake, Ontario, currently working out of Mad Rock Barbers and proudly serving clients across Owen Sound and the Grey Bruce region.
With extensive experience in the barber & hair industry, I’m passionate about creating modern, tailored styles that not only look great, but are practical for everyday life, easy to maintain, and designed around each individual client.
To me, great barbering is about far more than just a haircut. I believe genuine hospitality, attention to detail, and making people feel comfortable are just as important as technical skill. Every client who sits in my chair deserves to feel welcomed, listened to, and confident when they leave.
I strongly believe in consistently refining my craft. Over the years, I’ve attended industry events, advanced training courses, and educational experiences across Canada and the United States to continue growing both creatively and professionally.
In 2025, I had the privilege of pursuing advanced education through TONI&GUY in London, United Kingdom. This experience expanded my understanding of women’s hair, modern styling techniques, and a more fashion-forward approach to hair artistry.
My journey in the industry started from advertising free haircuts and travelling directly to clients’ homes to build experience and confidence. Through time and hard work, continuous education, and dedication to my craft, I eventually opened my first shop serving the Owen Sound community and later became a shop owner on multiple occasions.
Having been born and raised in Owen Sound, it has always meant a lot to me to serve the community that helped shape who I am today. I’ll always be grateful for the support, trust, and relationships I’ve built throughout my journey.
Beyond working behind the chair, I’m passionate about mentorship and helping others grow within the industry. I genuinely believe that with the right guidance, dedication, and mindset, anyone can improve and master the craft of barbering. I enjoy sharing industry insights, behind-the-scenes content, product recommendations, and educational experiences through my Instagram and online platforms.
I also offer private consultations, mentorship, and online training sessions for individuals looking for business advice, industry guidance, or hands-on barber education.
